Book Quotes

Every now and then when I’m reading a good book, an author writes something that strikes me.  It may be something that makes me laugh, stop and reflect, or is basically a good spin with words.

From Gone by Jonathan Kellerman

p. 37  “I told myself introspection could rot your brain, better to concentrate on other people’s problems.”

p. 356 “Temperance is the last refuge of cowards.”

From Selfish and Perverse by Bob Smith (Which sounds like a horrible book; I forgot to cancel the monthly selection from a book club and it’s been on my shelf.  Picked it up Sunday and have been pleasantly surprised)

p. 1 “Love at first sight makes perfect sense because we’re all pressed for time.”

p. 15 “Pretending to be normal was a fib, but it’s a harsh fact that expressing too much individuality means you’ll always be single.”

p. 16 “I hated when my job interfered with what I felt was my real vocation:  getting a boyfriend.”

p. 41 “It never failed to astound me that someone whom I didn’t know- and who didn’t know me- could make me so happy merely by pressing his lips against mine.”
